FOOD!

 Buckle up friends, you're gonna get a lot of food pictures. Thank you to cousin Kristi for telling us to do a lunch cruise on the Seine, it was amazing! The food was so delicious and the views were unbeatable. Such an unforgettable experience.

Our table was next to huge glass windows so we had an unobstructed view along the river. But the glass did provide glare for the pictures. Paris is just so beautiful.

There was also a small cheese course, a small piece of brie. Then dessert.

We also saw the Eiffel Tower and climbed the Arc du Triomphe. 



There was some kind of ceremony going on 






Tommy tried Tartare le boeuf for the first time. It was a large plate that he couldn't finish. The lady warned us that it was raw beef, and we assured her we knew that. It had something of the texture of tuna in a tuna salad sandwich, but had a sweet relish and sweet vinaigrette flavor. Janet didn't like it and Libby declined several times. The salad and butternut squash were both delicious with the latter being extremely creamy and something akin to what Adagio serves. 

The helping of beef was so large Tommy couldn't finish it and the poor lady who served us thought he didn't like it. I had to explain our very large lunch and how he liked it but got full. 




Tomorrow we will give our stomachs a break and let our eyes do the feasting at the Musee de l'Orangerie and the Musee d'Orsay.

    The food looks delicious! Glad the day included dessert. Good job being brave Tommy! Raw beef is a line I don’t think I was to cross.

 Hey y'all, we're back with another record of our day. We got up after getting varied amounts of sleep depending on which one of us you ask, and had breakfast at our accommodation before heading down around 9:15 to appear at our reserved time slot for the Roman Baths Museum complex.  The reason Bath exists as a town is the result of the natural hot springs found in this location. Peoples from the various time periods and geographic locations have all come here in some way as result of these springs made up of ancient waters that first landed in the Mendip hills before working there way down into the earth where it is super heated, and pushed up on this very spot! Utrecht

Well, we are definitely wearing down so it's good we're at the tail end of our trip. Unfortunately, Janet woke up sick this morning so she stayed home to rest. Libby also feels like she's coming down with a cold--she's getting stuffy.  Today Libby and I went to a town south of Amsterdam called Utrecht. It was a good deal larger than I expected. We had originally planned to take the fairly grueling tram ride all the way to Amsterdam Centraal, and catch the train from there to Utrecht (like we did when we went to Arnhem), but I realized we could take the tube to Centaal from a tram stop just a few stops away. Then, on our walk to the tram stop I realized we could take the metro from that stop to a train station that is closer to both us and Utrecht. I'm annoyed we've been suffering this +40 minute tram ride into the city corner when we could be getting off at Leydan station, and taking the metro (a ~7min ride) to the same place.  Live and learn. Winchester Cathedral

tl;dr We ate breakfast just off Portobello Road. Then we went to Winchester. We visited the Old Hall where a round table is that Henry VIII had re-painted. We went down to the old town area and got some pasties for lunch. We walked to Winchester cathedral. Wandered around some and attended a portion of a eye-blearingly boring  tour. We ditched that, and left to have some cake and coffee and go to the shop. From the shop we split up so Janet could shop. I was going to go back to Winchester, but was past the last entry, so I went to find ruined castle. After some side quests I failed getting there in time and returned to where Libby and Janet were. We then ate dinner, went home, and now I'm here typing this blog post.  More deets below Today we took a side trip to Winchester south of London.
